PETITION: Tell Governor Pritzker to Veto Senate Bill 328

Senate Bill 328 would open Illinois courts to lawsuits that have nothing to do with our state — allowing people from other states to sue out-of-state businesses here, just because those businesses are registered in Illinois.

This would flood our courts with cases that don’t belong here, delay justice for Illinois families, and drive up legal costs for local job creators. That means fewer jobs, higher costs, and more uncertainty for small businesses and working families.

To make matters worse, this bill was rushed through at the last minute using a procedural trick, with little public input and no real debate — a clear violation of the constitutional three-reading rule and blocking public scrutiny. That is why my colleagues and I have already filed a lawsuit to defend our Constitution and protect Illinois families.

Our court system should serve the people of Illinois — not be hijacked by out-of-state interests.

Governor Pritzker has until August 29 to veto SB 328. If he doesn’t act, it becomes law.
